HELP REQUIRED:

Fifth Quarter Focal - This is very important to the team and the coaches and we need to get this one nailed. We feed all players from all football programs, the band, cheerleaders and then always have left overs to feed student body fans after Friday NIght Football - the kids enjoy this, are ravenous. if it is a win - it is just more time to celebrate; if it is a loss it is time to nurse the wound, come together grouse a bit and head home knowing your team is ready to head back out strong the next day.  We feed em, warm up and then try to send the HOME relaxed and ready for bed.

The key is to organize a core group of 5th Quarter parents who will plan the menus (basically call local food establishments and order food - chicken, pizza, taco bell, have 10 parents cook lasagna), insure all the utensils are always in full supply, pick up food (not someone who's son is on the field), set up, feed and clean up.  Time requirement: one monthly meeting - you can plan all meals at the first meeting of the year and Friday nights - these can be split up - though they are fun and some folks have not missed one in many years - but will now be taking a break.
Home and league games:  sign up folks to rotate food pick up, sign up folks for feeding and clean up.
Far away games -  order food (like pizza from local establishment) have them meet the bus at the end of the game - set up a couple of card tables, get water in coolers, - feed em and put them on the bus.
Always: Hold all reciepts and get reimbursed from treasurer.

Both of these positions are critical to our program and we must have parents who have kids who are 07 Sophomore to 08 Seniors step up - we are losing key resources this year with graduation and "retirements".

We have a president - Keith Post, VP/CommunicationS: Kari and INTERIM Treasurer: Kristi Paulson - who is moving onto Oregon Duck football and will be on the road a bunch and probably running the Duck Booster club if we know Kristi.

We have to rally for our new head coach Bob Morgan - the energy is great and the outlook for the 07 season is great -lets keep the momentum going.

Email back with your questions or hand raised to get these going.

We all are compassionate as to everybody's busy lives, that is exactly why we need as many hands, hearts and heads as we can get so a few people don't get burned out and tired.

Greetings ARHS Football Families,

The 2007 ARHS Riverside Booster Club Dinner/Auction is celebrating 10 years this year and the festivities promise to be the best to date.  Before reading further, mark your calendar for the Saturday March 10 and join us at Green River Community College Lindbloom Center for this year’s event “Denim to Diamonds”.

History: The ARHS Booster club is a group of ARHS student parents who sponsor the annual dinner/auction. Funds raised help enrich all athletics and activity participants at ARHS.  Funds from the auction are dispersed based on the organization’s participation in the Auction planning and “day of” activity.  Each organization is request to have two members attend all planning meetings – who in turn act as their organization’s focal through the auction organization and procurement process.

Due to the combined efforts of parents, teachers, and staff of ARHS the auction last year raised $60,000.  Through the efforts of our Grid Iron Club we raised $4400; the auction is a very important piece of our Grid Iron budget and planning process. With a collective program of over 80 athletes we would love to surpass last year’s total. The Booster Club itself sponsors scholarships – last year I believe they provided 20 $500 scholarships!!!

Auction Format

Silent Auction – the silent auction begins approximately one hour prior to dinner being served. There are literally hundreds of items for up for bid. The tables close out based on value with the highest value items closing later in the evening.

Ideas include items from your favorite pro team, sporting tickets, quilts, perfume, decorating items, gardening items, food baskets, gardening baskets, wine baskets, books, coffee lovers baskets, chocolate lovers baskets, sporting equipment, the list goes on and on. People come up with some fantastic ideas.

Live Auction – Higher value items including dinner parties, vacations, cars, hot tubs, birthday parties hosted by teams, lawn mowers, puppies, tailgate parties, team quilts, team art,  house painting, If you can think of something fun and expensive and some one will spend a couple of hundred dollars on it – we want it in the auction!!

We all have talented friends or business owner friends who would gladly donate to our very worthy cause. Plus you can invite them to join us

Action required by all

  1. Buy your ticket – host a table – bring your friends!! Contact myself via email grid_iron_communications@yahoo.com or telephone at 206-862-8343 or Kristi Paulson at 939-4016 and cell 253-569-4544 and we will have tickets at $30 a piece for a sit down dinner and auction entertainment – at the time of purchase you will pick between chicken or beef. I will be recruiting additional ticket sellers – are you interested? PLEASE let me know.
  2. Provide at least one auction item – enclose is a procurement form.  Please complete the procurement form in full – all sections.  Accurately describing your item – this is what will go into the catalogue and will be used to “sell” your item – MARKETING!!
  3. In order to build the catalogue we need all items early. Deliver your auction items to:
    1. Kari Burrows 2409 185th Ave East (Driftwood Point) by Tuesday February 12 (due to vacation plans I will not be able to take any items later then 5:00 on the 12th)
    2. Kristi Paulson 4824 Mill Pond Loop (Lakeland) by Thursday February 15.
  4. Assist Kristy in delivering all items to ARHS on Friday February 16!!
  5. Attend, have fun and buy something you just can’t live without!!
  6. Design our Grid Iron Center Pieces – We are responsible for two. These will be auctioned off – don’t necessarily have to be all about football but need to be beautiful and make people want to spend a lot on them.
  7. Volunteer to:
    1. Assist gathering items
    2. Helping at the auction, there are many jobs to do at the auction – the biggest two being

                                                               i.      Set up: we can use all the help we can get with staging the night before, transporting items and setting up at GRCC.

                                                            ii.      Closing sales

  1. Get in the mix – we will be looking for at least one new focal for next year – use this year to learn the ropes!

As you can see there is a lot to do in a short amount of time. As we begin our 2007 budget planning we need to know that the proceeds from the auction will again be a major part of our available funds for next year’s program.

Please don’t hesitate to call myself or Kristy with any ideas, questions or volunteer muscle – we need all that we can get.

Take Care

Greetings All,

First and formost our thanks to all the great folks who helped with this weeks clothing sales, homecoming activities and 5th quarter - we had great Raven Spirit everywhere.  The ARHS students put on a great week of homecoming festivities - if you ever get the chance to peak at their Friday assembly I would highly recommend it. This was the first one I ever "peaked" at and man those kids are creative and funny!!!

A big thanks to the Wofford family who through their continued generosity allowed us to afford to feed the 5th Quarter gang Steaks and Burgers and salad and Garylicious Bean and Bread Sticks!!! Oh yeah they brought their portable kitchen also and cooked!  As always Gary and Ellen stand by their motto "It's for the kids"!!!
